There are about 500'000 blind people in Viet Nam – mostly among the poor. “Cataract” accounts for two thirds of all cases. Cataract surgery, although a simple operation and with cost of about 1 million VND only – is totally unaffordable for many of the poor victims.

Update: Some photos of patients who have been cured in the first event

Today, information from Church of Tan Hoa Dong, Daklak has updated us with some photos of the patients in first event, now getting well. 


Mr Huynh Thai Thanh, diagnosed cataract on both eyes, 
left eye treated. 
Mrs Nguyen Thi Nhung, diagnosed cataract on left eye,
left eye treated. 
Mrs Phan Thi Trang, diagnosed cataract on right eye, 
right eye treated 

We sincerely thank the donors for helping them finding back their eyesight and a new life.

Call for Second event in September 2014

In September 2014, Eye Charity Vietnam will cooperate with Ho Chi Minh city Eye Hospital and Daknong province Multi-discipline Hospital to organise the second charity eye surgery event. It is estimated to have 200 patients this time (including those in Daklak that have both eyes affected and haved been cured one eye in first event) 

Currently we are calling for donations to finance for this event to be implemented as planned.
