There are about 500'000 blind people in Viet Nam – mostly among the poor. “Cataract” accounts for two thirds of all cases. Cataract surgery, although a simple operation and with cost of about 1 million VND only – is totally unaffordable for many of the poor victims.

Update October Program

Eye Charity Vietnam announces eye surgical program on October. In September, we have actively sought for poor patients in Daknong province for the program. However, the province has also received many similar charity program from other teams, making the number of untreated patients fewer than expected. Although not yet completed the planned program, we are very happy to see that there are a lot of concern and support to poor people.

In the mean time of waiting to get the list of more than 100 patients to organise a surgery event, Eye Charity Vietnam will continue to implement our charity program in form of sponsoring trips to Hochiminh Eye Hospital for poor patients that need surgery. Our team will sponsor travelling and treating cost, Eye Hospital will sponsor facility and accommodation for patients and their escorting family members.

We hope that our new activity will efficiently help poor patients to gain back their vision and health.
